What paper weights are relevant for rigid box wrapping?
Colorplan is available at 120, 175, 270, and 350 gsm, with a 540 gsm double-weight grade for heavyweight applications. For rigid box wrapping, the relevant weights are 120 to 175 gsm.
A 120 gsm paper wraps and folds cleanly over a rigid greyboard core; it is the correct weight for standard-format rigid boxes where the paper is a single layer. A 175 gsm paper is stiffer — it adds tactile substance to the wrapped exterior and is appropriate when the paper is large enough to require stiffness for handling during assembly, or when the design calls for a heavier hand at the touch point. Colorplan is manufactured in the UK by GF Smith and sourced into China through specialist paper merchants.
